Soaps , repeats and money for old rope...

This morning i went shopping at Morrisons at 8am. I didn't have much shopping to get really, just bread and milk and couple of bits for my grandson Steven which "?" will be dropping off for him later along with some other foods i have here for him that he didn't get to use. Steven had some soup last night, he hadn't eaten for 3 days as he was so ill ( which i didn't actually know about untill Friday morning)

Its my grandaughter Jades birthday on Monday she will be 10 years old, "?" can drop her birthday card that off along with her present ( I gave her money so she can buy what she wants) as i won't be able to see her as Steven is ill.
Yesterday, i didn't feel too good in myself because of the Hiatal Hernia which was still giving me a bit of gip, so i did'nt do much yesterday at all.

Last night, i watched Gosford Park which i enjoyed. I don't normally watch these type of upstairs-downstairs kind of programes, but felt like watching it last night for some reason. I think it was because there was a lot of well known stars in it that appealed to me.

Eastenders i'm going right off that. The storyline about the switched baby i think is appalling and sickens me.
Even Coronation Street is getting me down with their storylines which is confusing and idiotic and i'm going off that too.
I don't know who writes these programes, but i think they should all buck their ideas up before they lose the shows like they all seem like they've lost the plots and seem to make them up as they go along. Some of the actors and actresses have done better in their line of work elsewhere, these soaps are typecasting them to be looked upon as bad actors and actresses.
I like watching my soaps, but if they carry on the way they are i think i will stop watching them. What are we paying TV Licences for? just to watch a load of s**t. The TV Licence is £145.50p and it seems like money is being thrown down the drain. And a part from that, all we seem to be watching is soaps anyway or repeats after repeats or the occasional drama. Christmas and New Year programes wasn't up to the mark either, even they were mostly repeats after repeats. The Licencing Board take the TV Licences all right, but if you hav'nt got a Licence then your sent to prison. Why can't they give us value for our money and put decent programes on and make the soaps better and put on decent comedy without the smut and if not make them pay with imprisonment or in their pockets, why just the ordinary people. As it is they're getting money for old rope.
Now i've got that off my chest i feel a bit better. I have thought this for a long, long while, but never put it into words.

Hello Astra

I have found your journal again! I came via your Facebook link.
Sorry to read that you have been so poorly. Your grandson too! HOpe you are both now on the road to recovery by now.
We hardly watched TV over Christmas. I had family staying and we chatted and played games.
There is a lot of rubbish and repeats on BBC these days. It's as though they don't have to try as hard now. It does make you wonder about the license fee.
I suppose it helps in the end to make you switch off more and become more selective of what you watch. Yes?Wishing you a speedy road to recovery.
