Trabeculectomy

I've been rather stunned and p**d-off today, why? Well, i had an appointment with the Gluacoma clinic at Moorfields eye clinic at upney hospital.

I went through all the rigmarole with the tests ect...and did'nt think anything of it untill i got my results.

Later the Dr. spoke to me about my results. She told me i'm losing my sight need a Trabeculectomy operation on both eyes and they will be doing both eyes together. she also said it won't cure the Gluacoma, but it can prolong the process of losing my sight. I asked her what the outcome would be if i did'nt have the op, she said, i would surely go blind in rather months than a year or two.

She gave me a pamphlet all about the op and what it entails and i've to let her know when i go to my next appointment in March 2011 if i'm having the op or not.

Well, theres only one answer to that one as i want to save my sight for as long as possible.

I was told i might have to have an op a few years ago, but it feels as though it was just sprung on me and i was taken aback for a while today. Still, never mind i will have to just take it as it comes like i do everything else and adjust to the situation
